Wild Moves

Hello,

After our time together, I could not get the image of you women out of my mind.  The imprint of yes, of wild, of alive.

So I’ve been wondering as I always do, what is the moment after?

The moment after hundreds of bodies from hundreds of places from hundreds of  moments in life dance together in real time?

I want to do it again.  Let's do it again.

What happens when we allow for that whisper of impulse to become an aria? Unrecognizable. Undeniable.  Unignorable. With repetition, comes courage, comes nuance, comes craft, comes alive.

Its hard to put in to words the power of dance. What is dance? My teacher Anna Halprin, said dance is the “breath made visible.”

Dance is movement of the body from the inside out. It’s everything we don’t have words for. It’s everything our words are trying to say.

Our bodies are in collaboration with what is alive, with emergence. Our bodies know how to desire, to run towards, to devour, and to fall to our knees.

To move with our bodies takes practice, play, repetition and a witness.

Im inviting you to dance with me for 4 Thursdays.

To dance the moment after.

What can’t be contained?

Lets shake it, laugh it,  strengthen its soften it, sculpt it,  follow it, and set her free.

I’ve got you.

All  of you .

“I had no idea what to expect and what came out from my own body’s interpretation of the instructions was liberating! Using both imagery channel, movement, sensations and emotions. Very few thoughts, except for reflecting on how happy it made me to see the groups expressions on screen. I haven’t felt free in this way for a very very long time.”

WILD

MOVES

Wild Moves is a movement based (dance) class meant to awaken your wild from the inside out.  This class was crafted from years of preparing performers to generate expression from their impulses, their desires, their raw utter humanness.  This class is meant to unleash what is alive, what is hilarious, what is tragic, what is beautiful, what is nuanced, and unnamable.  Kyra’s unique approach to teaching stems from a spinal surgery she had when she was 12 years old that left her paralyzed from the chest down. Through the process of regaining feeling in her body and re-learning to walk, Kyra has had the opportunity, first hand, to ask herself and many others “What in us remains alive even when we cannot feel our bodies? This class is designed for all bodies.  Please come in clothes and a space you can comfortably move in.
